  1. http://www.rugbyfootballhistory.com/

  2. it is from the town of Rugby in England.

  3. England, it derived from football (another English game). I'm not sure about the Web Ellis thing, many beleive it's a myth, but it did come from football. In many old forms of football, using your hands was allowed, like old mob football. At the time it originated, many different forms of football were played in the country, there was no one set of rules, and many still involved hands, it could have quite well come from one of those.

  4. Rugby was started in 1823 by William Webb Ellis at the Rugby School in England. It is said that while playing football (soccer) as it was played in his day, Ellis simply picked up the ball and ran with it, in turn discovering a new sport which was named after the school. Ever since that time, a stone marker stands at the school gates to mark the event.

  5. what they said

  6. One English man was playing soccer and this English idiot  invented the violent, bloody, deadly, brutal, outrageos, barbaric, extra terrestrial, savage game of Rugby.
