Where is sound suppressor for a ford escort 'R' reg.

I have changed my car stereo and its picking up engine sound. How can i stop this interference.

First thing is did you buy a harness that wires directly into your car harness?  If you just cut wires from the harness and then hooked them into the new stereo that is a bad idea.  You can get a lot of bleed over voltage into those wires, which will cause that hum.  Also if you did wire it into the battery, make sure that the fuse is more than a foot away from the battery, that sometimes will cause an interference.  Also check to make sure nothing is touching you RCA plugs on the back of the stereo.  Can cause that to happen too.  Basically just make sure every wire is secured and that it isn't shorting to anything else.
