Question:

Where is the 'best' place for windsurfing, in your opinion? (UK / Europe / Worldwide)?

By 'best' I guess I mean reliable winds, warm water, good bars nearby etc...

My favourites:

UK - Portland Harbour, Dorset. Good wind when a south-westerly blows over Chesil Bank, flat water.

Europe - Vassiliki, Lefkas, Greece. Usually windy in the afternoon, thanks to 'Eric' (the god of wind). Hot and sunny & the 'Zeus'bar.

Worldwide - Margarita, Venezula. REALLY windy and hot, cheap rum...

Have I missed anything special...???

  1. The island of Tiree in Scotland is Uk's windiest place and is amazingly beautiful with deserted sandy beaches that would put many places in the world to shame, not the most lively though. Believe they've held the UK champs there. only downside is it's a bit of a way!

  2. I've heard south africa. a place called Kommetjie.

  3. It has to be The Dominican Republic. Caberette beach on the north coast, east of Sosua, the waves are hugh and wow, the wind is really good, the water is warm and the sands are golden, what more could you want.

  4. Essaouira (sp) in Morocco.  Constant wind.  Sand blasted my acne away.

  5. this is i long shot but i think somewhere windy might help

  6. vassiliki ......

  7. The Dalles in Oregon, USA, the worldwide best.......always windy and the Columbia River is a great place to surf.

  8. I guess north cornwall around wadebridge and newquay in the uk dont know any where else

  9. My most favorite place in all the world to sail is on the sound at the North Carolina Outer Banks around Nags Head, USA.  My reasons should carry over for wind surfing.  The wind is usually great and consistent, but you have little wave action because of being protected by the barrier islands.  The sound is also quite shallow over a great deal of it, usually not over waist deep so it's  quite warm compared to the ocean.

And every once in a while a big storm lets you go mack 3 with your hair on fire!  I was there for tropical storm Beryl and it was awesome!!!!

  10. The Sea?????????????
