Where is the Best Place to live in CA(most likely Southern) for a family of 4?

So, I do the whole acting/modeling/singing thing and would like to live there. My Dad likes the places in Central CA/Northern CA, But I want one closer to auditions.

Where's the best place to live for my family?

We need a house with 3 bedrooms- 2.5 bathrooms(minimum). My Dad says the highest we will pay for a house is 275,000(max). The place has to have good schools,low crime rate.
