  1. I don't think there is any one "best place".  There are numerous sites that sell used boats.  Just use caution and  make sure you know what you are buying.   Here are a couple of links to get you started.  Best of luck.

  2. hands down....the Best...

    www.motors.ebay.com     go to boats.

  3. Check out yachtworld.com or boattrader.com-I found my boat on line from Yachtworld.

  4. Have you tried KiteBoarding (Kitesurfing) it's a lot more fun(30 feet in the air) than being dragged behind a boat. and you can pick one up for around $500. (boat not needed)

see pics and Videos of Kitesurfing in action here or click on my profile.

  5. Others have given you some extremely good ideas as well.

I sold "wake" boats for many years, mainly Mastercraft.  Understanding "wake" boats is extremely important if your intentions are wakeboarding a lot.  Not only is the tower a necessity but a boat to create "wake" is a "must".  This is accomplished by "pumping" water into the rear of the boat, pushing down, creating good "wake".  If you have a boat that does not allow this I have seen "bricks" used or placing passengers in the rear as well.  The idea is to push as much of the rear of the boat down as possible for the "wakeboarder" to do what "wakeboarders" do.

This is the time of year for boat shows and where you get the very best deals.  Why?  Distributors and manufacturers know approximately 40% (+/-) of their total yearly sales are produced early in the year at these shows.  Distributors have to push sales for a couple of reasons, i.e., maintain their distributor status, show volume sales, keep their doors open, etc.

Your indicated price range will get a boat (new) with a tower but not a true "wake" boat as mention above.  You can go to "Boat Trader" or local marinas for used boat info.  At times dealers will have previously used as well.  When purchasing insure the price includes the trailer because, new, you will get a boat quote and then find the trailer may be a couple of thousand.

Another option some look into is purchasing a boat and tower separately.  If you do this make sure from the boat manufacturer the tower can safely and securely be installed.  Some Bayliners and others as well do not have "thick enough" foundations to safely s***w and secure towers.

True "wake" boats, i.e., MasterCraft, Tigre, Moomba, etc. can be expensive.  Do your homework and understand what true "wakeboarding" is all about with the proper equipment.  Wakeboarding is a fun sport and easier to learn than skiing.

Good luck and enjoy your boat.

  6. hmm ebay

  7. Start with boat dealers and Craig's list.

  8. All I can tell you is , I recently bought a boat on ebay and got it thousands cheaper than normal. Naturally,  make the deal c.o.d. and meet at a boat ramp so you can go for a test ride.
