  1. first is it mechanical or electronic they both canm be cleaned scrape out carbon and turn motor over with egr off car and blow out port that setas these codes case what happens is pinlet on egr are held open when they are supposev to be closed and you should get a repair manual so you no what you are doing

  2. Check the EGR's vac lines and see if there isn't a vac device working in conjunction with the EGR valve and try installing a used one from a big do it yourself auto wreckers. It may have what some call a Transducer that is usually sold with the EGR valve and very pricey new.

You also need to see if the device using vac lines linked to the EGR valve has a electronic plug going to it bec the cars comp could be giving a EGR trouble code and the EGR valve isn't at fault at all.

Hope that helps and best of luck. I'd probably suggest that you buy a service manual for that vehicle bec it will give you the information and trouble shooting info you need here.Plus it should tell you if EGR valve can be cleaned and how to do it but most EGR valves can be cleaned and it may fix the problem for awhile.

I might try picking up the EGR and other devices related to it from a car in good shape at a auto wreckers so you can just replace them yourself but remember EGR valves require new gaskets.
