Two websites say that  a desert called El Azizia in Libya was the hottest temperature ever recorded on earth, 150 degrees in the shade.  The second hottest in Death Valley in the U.S.Update:  Sorry, I rechecked those, and I read too fast, it is 136 degrees in El Azizia, as someone else says.  The surface temps reach 150, but those are not air temps.  Sorry.  ;-)
