Question:

Where is the Nearest U.S. Mint in New York?

My Brother has some coins he'd like to be seen, we need to know where the nearest U.S. Mint is, the only one we were able to find on line is Washington D.C. is there one in New York withing the Five Boroughs?

  1. There is a mint in Philadelphia, but I am not sure that that is what you want.  They will not appraise coins for you.  A coin shop would do that or the numismatic society.


  2. The only U S  Mint in the state of New York is in West Point. There is not one in New York City.

  3. Philadelphia.  But, I think it would be more appropriate to take the coins to the American Numismatic Association there in New York.  The mint produces coins and paper money, but they are not in the business of evaluating old or rare coins.

  4. Philadelphia, at least there was 10 years ago, I assume its still there.

    Used to be on in Denver.  Some older coins were made in San Fransico.  There was a min in Carson City, NV back in the first half of 20th century.  I wasn't even aware of one in D.C. Must be new within the last 10-15 years.
