Where is the Oil Sending Unit on a 92 4cyl. Jeep Wrangler?

I have a 1992 4cyl Jeep Wrangler. I have been trying to repair an oil leak, previously I had thought the leak was from the oil pan gasket, but after replacing it 3 times and checking the pan for divots, cracks and square I'm pretty sure that the leak is higher up the engine. I checked the oil filter, but it's tight and I can't find any signs of leaking oil on it either. The suggestion was made that the Oil Sending Unit may have gone bad and is the source of my leak.

So, where is the Oil Sending Unit? Are there any other components on the passenger side of my Jeep that may be the problem?

And to help prevent follow up questions, what are some good Jeep forums/websites? What are the best mechanics guides for fixing things on my Jeep?

  1. On the engine the unit is right beside the oil filter. If you get a good view ,you'll see the wires going to it.

I'd stop by AUTO-ZONE and pick up a  book for your vvehicle[$20.00]
