  1. For all intensive purposes, the X-box is just a PC with specialized software and equipment (i.e. controller instead of keyboard/mouse).  The bios is stored in the same place as it is on a normal computer, in flash memory chip on the motherboard.

Here's some more info on bios: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/bios1....

Here's a page where a guy is trying to remove the BIOS chip (I don't recommend doing this, by the way): http://www.xenatera.com/bunnie/proj/anat...  In the second photo, you can see the actual chip I'm talking about.

The BIOS is NOT stored on the hard drive.  If you are using a bios.bin file, you're likely trying to flash the bios.  You won't find the bios.bin file on the X-box.  You have to get a bios.bin file with the new bios you want to put on the X-box as well as software to flash (reinstall) your bios with the new bios.bin.

On the other hand, if you didn't know this, you probably have a few other big hurdles you need to cross before trying to flash your bios, voiding your warranty and possibly destroying your X-box.
