  1. flinders rangers

  2. There are many options for 4WD experiences in SA, depending on the time you can spend there.

As mentioned above, the Oodnadatta Track is a good choice, it gives you some insight into the early history of the Outback. You'll follow the routes of the Old Ghan railway and the Overland Telegraph line.

The Birdsville Track is also a great experience. There's the option for a nice round trip from the southern parts of SA: go north via the Birdsville Track, from Birdsville to Cordillo Downs, Innamincka and via the Strzelecki Track back south.

On all these routes you'll pass by the Flinders Ranges, an area worth to stop for a few days.

If you want it really rough, you can cross the Simpson desert. But be aware that you need some experience in 4WD driving and you should be very well prepared.

Another great area for 4 WD adventures is the Gawler Ranges with a detour to one of the large salt lakes in SA, Lake Gardiner.

Take Outback safety serious, and seek as much information as you can get before you head out there. Have fun.

  3. Definitely travel the Oodnadatta track. There are so many great places you can visit, with really interesting people to meet. The 4WD-ing can be relatively tame, or you can go further and get the car really dirty. Of course there is the risk factor of the area; if your car breaks down it could be days before someone finds you. Just remember to come well prepared; get your car serviced, and take LOTS of food and water. Follow these precautions and you should have a great holiday.

  4. There is a 4x4 place a days drive from adelaide near Loveday area in the riverland. google it and go there its great and will test your 4x4 driving skills

  5. The Flinders Ranges

Amazing views, I always have a blast when I go there with family or friends, it the best ever place to expolre, especially with the beautiful wilderness too
