Pateros is the home of Balut. Personally, for me all balut tastes the same whether it's peddled in the streets of Makati, Laguna, Iloilo or anywhere in the Philippines. Truly yummy!

Southeast of Manila you can go to Pateros, the smallest of the seventeen cities and municipalities comprising the Metropolitan Manila.

The Chinese traders who eventually settled in the town introduced the most famous balut industry and alfombra-slipper making. The name PATEROS came from the Tagalog words “pato” – the duck that lays the eggs for balut making, and “sapatero” – the word for shoemakers.

Used to be in a nighspot in Marikina called "The Cave", but it's closed now, as every other club is in Calumpang District.  

So,  now,  I have to eat balut with the lights on.  Or in daylight, and it's just not the same.

The best Balut is best produced from Pateros in Rizal, it is near Pasig City and Taguig City. It is a very old industry of Pateros...since kopong kopong....
