  1. By far the best Basque food is in Elko, Nevada.  During the later part of the 19th century there was a large Basque migration to the north Mountain west, Utah, Idaha and particularly Nevada.  Eastern and Central Nevada have lots of Basque places.  The food is usually served family style and lamb is popular.  Salt cod and good red wine are also halmarks of these fine establishments.

  2. Belive it or not, there are a few but I cant vouch for authenticity or taste.

My favorite was a place in NYC called Marichu's near the UN area, but I heard it closed.  There's another one called Pinxtos.

Try this link:  it provides a list for the whole US

  3. I have only had basque food in San Francisco, in a small restaurant where it was served communal (group) style, as it should be.  It featured lamb and was very simple but hearty food.  This was a few years back when there were a few Basque restaurants near the Broadway tunnel (North Beach side).  I don't even know if they exist any longer, but it is the only place I have ever even seen Basque food.  I'll be interested to see, from your answers, if there are other places in the U.S. serving Basque food.
