Where is the best area to stay in co kerry ?

My partner and I have visited Scotland many times but are thinking of trying Ireland for a change. We love remote beaches and peaceful surroundings, Does anywhere in this area match what we have seen in Scotland?

the whole of Kerry is lovely, when me and my late husband went, we did the ring of Kerry, we stayed a some great B+Bs along the route, all the people were very friendly, and even suggested some places to visit, you will love Ireland. happy holidays !! xx

Killarney, also if you want a great bed and breakfast close to the city and have amazing scenic views i would reccomend the gardens bed and breakfast, the rooms are huge they are like hotel rooms and the service is great. Killarney is a great town with lots to do and the people are lovely.

I go to both Ireland and Scotland several times a year.  Co Kerry reminds me of Ayrshire: rustic, beautiful countryside.  If you want a good city to stay in that is a good base point for visiting the Ring, then Killarney is good but touristy.  Kenmare is also great, smaller but also somewhat touristy.  I would try either Killorglin or Caherciveen. The villages of Caherdaniel and Castlecove are close to some more fine beaches along the Ring of Kerry and all the way to Sneem, another great place with good food.  Enjoy!

start off in killorglin- great place for a base and head to glenbeigh/rossbeigh for swimming. i suggest a couple of days in dingle and heading over to ventry and slea head. fab.

All of Kerry is stunning, but the "Ring of Kerry" is mind-blowing. There are hidden beaches dotted along the coastline all along the ring. Each and every one is good for a weeks stop. Get yourself a copy of the Irish Ordnance Survey 1/2 inch to the mile (or it's metric equivalent) and discover them for yourself. Look out for "regattas" They happen on different weekends at Kells Bay, at Caherciveen, at Waterville and other locations. The local people trun out for them and you get rare entertainment for free.

If you are looking for nightlife in Kerry - recommend staying in Killarney.  Great place but may be too urban for what you're looking for.

  If you are looking for hills and sorts - stay on the Ring of Kerry or Tralee.

I've never stayed out here but the town of Baltimore is by the sea surrounded by the cliffs and rolling hills of emerald green.  It's a little bit off of the ring but if you like the sea - it's the western side of Ireland that may suit you.  That or Tralee are the 2 areas I'd start.

I like the Dingle Peninsula in Co. Kerry. Dingle Town is a well known and somewhat touristy area, but there are plenty of places to stay, and you can leave Dingle for side trips to other areas in Co. Kerry.

I have not made it to the Blasket Islands. I'd love to go sometime...but you can't stay there...need to take the boat out and back the same day, so lodging arrangements must be made on the mainland.

If you're looking for a really remote bay area, with a fabulous beach, there's a lovely little spot called Kells (bay), it's between Glenbeigh and Caherciveen.

You've the beach and bay one direction, and mountains and trees behind you. It's not very well known as the roads down are covered overhead by trees, but it is one of the most tranquil and serene places I know.

if u do go der, go to the blasket islands [great blasket] for a nite, but nobody lives on the island except campers during the summer, dis has a remote beach ,its small but not too small and it is also peaceful
