We are headed to Nashville next week and want to visit a cavern. We have a 7 yr old daughter, and do not want to drive more than two hours from Nashville to said Caverns.

I keep googling and have found several - Ruby Falls, The Cumberland Caverns, and Raccoon Mountain Cavers.

Has anyone been to all? Does anyone live around there? Which would you recommend???

  1. I live near Nashville (in Hendersonville) and the only one I have been to is Ruby Falls in Chattanooga. My family loved the tour- it ends with an underground waterfall that is awesome. The story of how it was found is really neat. If you choose to go to Chattanooga, you can also go to Rock City and the Incline Railroad- you can get tickets for all 3 at a slight discount as opposed to buying them separately. Rock City is a huge area on the top of a mountain with huge boulders and narrow passes to squeeze through, a hanging bridge, etc. From the top, you can see 7 states on a clear day. The incline railroad is really funny a little scary and also very interesting. They tell the history of it on the ride up. It's one of the steepest railroad lines in the world! I'm sure you would enjoy all 3 activities and it makes for a full day BUT if you have some time left, there is a great aquarium in Chattanooga as well as a fun riverfront area. If you are still looking for things to do in Nashvile, Email me throughYahoo Answers and I'll be happy to help! have fun!
