  1. Just a note that if you want a nice meal wong kei is not a great idea - they are famed for their rude service and you often have to sit with other people. Although as mentioned fast service and cheap and foods ok.

Try e.g. Laughing Buddha if you want a nice meal though. http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/restaurants...

  2. You'll have to be more precise for 'good'.

For cheap and cheerful. Wong Kei's in Wardour Street.

For a 'proper meal' with no insults then try Joy King Lau or China Court in Lisle Street.

  3. I'm not in london at this time, but I can shed some light in chinese restaurant selection.

Due to the importance the ingredient plays in chinese food, the restaurant got the most customer flow usually is better than other ones in the same area because the more people dine with it, the faster the ingredient will consume, and the more often they need to order again.

I've been to one that got worms on the vegi that suppose to be eaten without cook. it was a terrible experience.

    Hope that will help you.

  4. If the Chinese eat in a restaurant then I reckon you can't go far wrong.  I would personally recommend Won Kei restaurant which is in London China town.  It is located at the west end of Gerrard Street, the main thoroughfare.  Stand at T junction at the west end of Gerrard street and look to your right.

The restaurant is fairly priced, quick  service and  there is a huge range on the menu.

  5. I have a theory I'd like to share with you, having eaten in many different establishments in London's China Town.

There is a massive kitchen under the cobbles, from which all the food is served, via a complicated series of dumb waiters. Its all the same....not particulary good and generally over priced, so this would appear to bear out in practice as well as theory.

Good Luck! But I'd try somewhere away from China Town and its subterranean black arts.
