  1. If you were looking for a hostel I stayed at a great small apartment style hostel right near the centre. It's shared bathroom but there are only a few rooms (clean/comfortable) and the owner lives on premises and is incredibly helpful in recommending where to go and what to see.

It's called the Hostel Sud-Americana Madrid (you'll find it on a Yahoo search) and with the money you'll save over a hotel you can see some of Madrid's more expensive attractions and eat some of it's better food.

    Hope this helps.  : )

  2. We went to Madrid a couple of years back and stayed in Tryp Ambassador. The four star hotel is located in the historical city centre of Madrid. The accommodation was really nice and the rooms clean. Very good value for money. It was about 80 Euros per night per room (based on 2 people). Would definitely recommend it. Great city - have fun!

  3. Hotel Eruopa is good and very central, another to try would be one on the hostels. There are a few by plaza de sol and cuenca.

  4. You have the:

    Best Western Trafalgar

    35, calle Trafalgar

    Madrid...in the center of town

50 euros a night... you'll have money left over!
