  1. I prefer to be near the middle, near the top of the ship.  I always get an inside room.  They are cheaper, and I do not spend much time in there anyway.

  2. The answer to your question depends upon several factors:

    1.  How much money you have to spend.  2.  Your space requirements. 3.  If you are prone to motion sickness

If you have a lot of money to spend and wish to have a large cabin (and motion sickness is not an issue), choose a cabin on one of the upper decks for the most light, proximity to amenities, space, luxury, etc.  If you have motion sickness, get an inside cabin as close to the bottom/middle of the ship as you can.  You'll barely feel the motion down there, as your weathier shipmates on top decks begin to wish they hadn't abused themselves at the buffet line.

  4. In regards to motion sickness, your best bet is to stay toward the middle of the ship (regarding front to back).  Think of the ship as a see-saw (teeter-totter).  The part of the see-saw that moves the littlest is the center.  As far as top of the ship vs. the bottom of the ship - yes, the top does move a bit more than the bottom, but this is not very noticable.  (If it was, the most expensive cabins wouldn't be at the top!)    I have had 2 cabins on the bottom decks of the ship, and my last deck was on the 7th floor.  Both were in the middle of the ship, and I did not notice any difference in ship movement.  Obviously, the further up you go, the closer you are to the main decks, such as the Lido deck, which is the main open deck with the pool.  I have heard some complaints that the bottom deck (often known as riviara deck) sometimes has a slight sewage smell to it.  I have never had this problem, but you never know.  The only real problem with the lower decks is that sometimes you have to wait quite a while before you can get an elevator, and walking seven flights of stairs isn't always easy.  (Although it's a great way to burn off those extra cruise calories!)  Having a cabin higher up makes it easier to walk to the other decks when elevators are full (usually before/after main shows and dinner).

Also, if possible, try to pick a cabin that is close enough to the elevators so that you don't have to walk a mile, but not right next to it, so as not to hear the people and the chiming all night.  My cabin was about 7 doors down from the elevator, and it worked well.  Also, try not to get a cabin directly above or below the casino or main show lounges, especially if you go to bed early.  If at all possible, a cabin on a ship that has a deck of all rooms above you is ideal.  When I sailed on the carnival Glory last year, I was on the Empress Deck, which is sandwiched between two decks of nothing but staterooms.  This worked very well.  If you book through expedia.com or something similar, you can see which cabins are available, and what features are around it.  (Even if you are not booking through them, you can use it to find out which cabins are still available, then request this cabin elseware.)

  5. I prefer the bow (front) of the ship and from there the middle level of deck (empress or upper) higher is nice but not required

in the end it is all your own preferance, what do you want to be closes to.

  6. Near the bottom anywhere because the gravitational pull is centered and the rocking is less than at the top.  But, if you go near the bottom, it usually is filled with closed cabins. Comfort-> less luxury.

  7. It all depends. If you think you might get seas sick then chose bottom middle. If you want to avoid noise near elevators, then check that on the deck plans. Also for noise make sure there are no night clubs below your room, you will definately hear that. I prefer lower down in the ship! But then again it all depends!

    happy cruising!!

  8. in the middle.
