we are planning to go to Costa Rica and i want to stay in a place where im surrounded by nature. I was kind of thinking of a place by the water where there are trees surrounding the hotel..not places like in the middle of the city. I was hoping to go look at volcanoes and zip lining and hiking and swimming and surfing..less of shopping and big buildings..but i also dont want to stay in a tiny hotel in the middle of nowhere..i would just like the city im in to be tropical and beachy and not urban and city...HELP!

  1. You've got two different things going on here.

Hiking, volcanoes, and zip lines will be in the middle of the country in the rainforests. For that, your best bet is Monteverde, and the best hotel there is Monteverde Lodge: http://www.monteverdeinfo.com/monteverde...

I've been there twice, and even took my parents back. You'll feel like you're in a real back-to-nature lodge. They have a real focus on sustainability, and it's so relaxing.

For swimming, surfing, and beaches, you need to go to the coasts.  I'd recommend Manuel Antonio because it's a national park, so you get less of the tourist kitsch. A really nice hotel there is "Hotel Si Como No" - a hotel that only required they remove three trees to build, it's so nestled into nature.

    Hope that helps!

  2. I'd say Manuel Antonio Beach, which is also a natural reserve.

Also Volcano Arenal is amazing, but noton the coast.

    look em up

    pura vida mae

  3. www.cocoaoasis.com This place is great. They rent and sell condos and cabinas. Only a couple miles from Playas Del Coco and the beach.

    The zip lines are great!
