  1. Ronnie Scotts on Frith St in Soho is the most famous Jazz venue in the UK other ones in the vacinity that have good acts are PizzaExpress Jazz club on Dean St or the 100 club on Oxford st.

  2. You can go to Ronnie Scott in Soho, a great place with all leading jazz musicians have and plays there.

Also there is the Dover Club, in Dover Street Picadilly. There is live jazz band every day with a small dancefloor where you can dance as well. Very nice place.

  3. The Brahms and List, Covent Garden

  4. opposite high street ken tube station

  5. Mosaique Restaurant and Piano Bar..

    our comments

We reviewed Mosaique a year ago, which was enjoyable, but with some menu changes having taken place we went back for a second look.

Mosaique have kept up the standard of quality ingredients and variety in their menu. Gone is the clichéd 70s Avocado and Prawns, now replaced with the likes of Salt and Pepper Squid with fried garlic and chilli dressing. The squid was bursting at the seams with flavour and didn’thave a hint of chewiness which comes with cooking squid for that second too long. This dish is definitely a must. The other starter we tried was a chunky roast pumpkin, artichoke and red onion salad with peppery salad leaves, which was delightful. However it could have benefited from the pumpkin being cut into chunks instead of being diced, texture being as important as taste. A small gripe however in what was a very enjoyable meal.

The restaurant was contending with a large Xmas party on this occasion, but service remained flawless the entire night. Owner-operator, Burak, is a very gracious host, keeping a watchful eye over the nights proceedings and ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

Main course, I opted for duck breast with pak choy, chilli and coriander. Ordering duck can be a gamble with some restaurants as the meat is fatty and it needs to be drawn off, This dish was brilliantly balanced, not at all heavy and the chilli came through nicely without overshadowing the meal. My partner went with organic salmon and baby prawns, in brandy cream with mushroom and spinach, the cut of salmon was so big she struggled to finish, but definitely no complaints about the quality of this dish apart from the fact the top of the salmon could have been a little less grilled. Again a minor quibble.

Although we planned to share a dessert, we were soon convinced that ordering one each would be a wiser plan. Our first choice of chocolate and rum cake with amaretto biscuits was a lovely sweet dessert served at room temperature. The sorbet however was a little on the artificial side and definitely not up to the standard the rest of the menu had set.

The ingredients are the star quality of this restaurant. That and a varied menu combined with excellent service. No wonder the ITN boys and girls love it so.

Well, I was quite disappointed at this place. After reading all the reviews I was expecting much more!

I would have never awarded 8ish marks for anything in this place. Mind you, I did go on a Monday night. Even then, there should have been more than just us sitting at the restaurant. Also, I don't know how it is when the pianist is there, but the music was horrible!

I also asked for the offer that goes with this website and when the bill arrive, to my surprise, it was nothing like the offer. I ended up paying much more 15ish per head... basically I think I could have made better use of my money. It was definately not value for money.

Can't complain about the service though. that was great, though it might have been for the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant!

All in all, if I were you and wanted to spend around 50-60, there must be a million other places I would go to before this one.

I booked on a Thursday morning for early dinner at 1830 on the same day and quoted the offer.

Finding the place was not as simple as we'd hoped! For other visitors walking from Chancery Lane tube station, proceed across the first busy intersection and the restaurant is on the left after about 40 metres. The staff were very helpful in giving directions and gracious when we were a few minutes late.

We were two couples, and were not too surprised to find only a few other tables occupied on our arrival, it being quite early in the evening. Service was very acceptable all through the meal, as one might expect in a quiet, well-staffed restaurant. The restaurant gained a buzzy, pleasant atmosphere as the evening went on. Nearly every table was taken by the time we left at 2145.

Complementary drinks arrived as promised, later Turkish beer for the boys and wine for the girls. All very good. A gastronomic break from the norm is guaranteed to all but the most frequent Mediterranean diner.

When it came to choosing dishes, we were left with the menu for nearly 10 minutes making our selection from the 3-course dinner menu, then advised that we should have been choosing from the lunch menu below! Not quite what was expected.

The dishes, whilst tasting excellent, varied in appearance and appeal. The falafel were an unpleasant shape and colour, and the parsley sauce on the fish cakes was so bright green as to appear rather artificial. I went off the menu, in fact, choosing my starter from the dinner options and enjoyed perfectly-cooked salt and pepper squid (my mouth is watering now!) I recommend this dish to all seafood lovers: a very fair portion indeed, and pleasantly presented.

I continued with the paella-like risotto, which despite it's appearance, was anything but bland and thoroughly savoured the healthy amount of seafood. Excellent flavours combined by an equally excellent chef.

The restaurant advertises itself as a piano bar, and yes, a pianist does play from 1930 each evening. We found the selection of music appealing (songs from the shows, etc.) but felt that the lady's efforts were from time to time... off-putting. That said, live music is always an enjoyable accompaniment to any meal

On the whole, we applauded Mosaique for providing good food and entertainment at an extremely reasonable price.

I visited this restaurant along with a small group of friends for a birthday celebration and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The food was very tasty and extremely good value for money, the pianist added to an intimate and warm atmosphere, and the staff were polite.

The only downer was that there were only two other customers in the restaurant during the whole time we were there! We couldn't believe that this place isn't thriving! I think the owners/staff want to know why it is that their restaurant isn't generating they amount of interest it deserves since whenever anything was left uneaten they asked what was wrong with it. We found it very strange that they asked this since the food was tasty but my friend was just genuinely full. They obviously want to know what they are doing wrong and my response to that would be 'nothing'.

A brilliant venue for all types of occassions and I'll definately be coming back soon.

We went to mosaique for a birthday party last night and had a great time. the food was all good, and the mezze in particular was great. The cheapest white wine on the menu £12.50 a bottle was really nice. The service was great, amd though they left a loing time between courses our drinks were conctsantly refilled and it gave us all plenty of time to chat. And the piano player joined in with 'happy birthday' when the cake came out. All in all, a perfect location for a birthday dinner.

I went there with some of my oldest and dearest school mates. It was like a re-union for us and Mosaique provided the perfect atmosphere. The live piano in the background was so serene and the food was lovely. The house white wine is good and for starters I had prawns with hallomi cheese. The risotto as well as the fish cakes with avacado were delicious..the deserts looked tempting but I was on a diet! The staff were smiley and friendly..The special offer was too good a deal to miss..highly recommend it!

We visited Mosaique here for our anniversary not knowing what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. We had the special offer, with the complimentary glass of champagne, which proved to be excellent value for money. The food whilst not being mind blowing was definitely delicious. The portions could have been slightly bigger, but were sufficient. Although the exterior of the restaurant wasn’t the most impressive, the interior was very nice, with a light summery feel. The atmosphere was nice and the service was excellent with the staff being very friendly and attentive. All in all, we would highly recommend Mosaique to anyone looking for a delicious, good value for money dining experience.

We ate here for a friends birthday and everything was brilliant! The waiters couldn't do enough for you, the food was fantastic and there was plenty on the plate!

The only dissapointment was that the piano player didn't show up but as an apology we had £20 taken of the bill.

I would return without a doubt!

I went here with my friends one friday night and the place was empty, oh! except for 2 other customers. the food well...its a disappointment! for starters,my friends order prawn with avocado and the prawn seems to come directly from a supermarket pack, at least the white bait ive ordered is quiet ok and the rest of the meals?...its unappetising and too dry. the service? well there were just eight cutomers there that night but there was a big gap between the starter and the main course...the long wait would be acceptable if the place was full.atmosphere? if you want to have some privacy then this is the place to be since you'll be the only customer there.

    This is an exellent restaurant.

The food considering the very average price, is excellent, menu is interesting offering a good insight into mediterranean quisine.

    The wine selectionis reaonably priced.

As for the service it is excellent.

Mosaique has a relaxed, informal and friendly aproach to their guests yet still maintains standards of good food with polite and proper service.

would definitely recommend going for a romantic evening.

  8. The vortex jazz club is a jazz club for serious jazz lovers. It is actually quite small but the people who go there really love their jazz. They have a great list of gigs and all are very affordable.

it is volunteer run and therefore not too fancy.  It is close to Dalston Station up in hackney. I have attached the site for more details.

During the world cup they had 2 bands "battle off" in front of the games on a big screen tv. Listening to jazz while watching football was a real treat.

A fine and funky Camden institution, boasting some of the best jazz gigs in London. Come as you are (actually some of you should probably make an effort) and get down at the clubnights from heaven here. Andy Smith's Northern Soul night caused a recent almighty storm. There are also loads of up-to-the-minute live acts. A must visit.

  10. I highly suggest Smollensky's on the Strand.  They have a daily happy hour of the most delicious martini's for about £5.  The music is fantastic.  See the link below for the events schedule.

  11. Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club is very famous. I haven't been there before but I'm going next month as I heard it is excellent.
