Where is the best place for a carseat in a Ford Ranger?

It is cab & half I think. The seats in the back are mounted sideways though, is that safe for my two year old?? The front seat (passenger) has the option of turning the airbag off.

What does everyone think?

I also have a 5 & 8 year old who will be riding as well.

front seat backwards is the only way to fit it right and thats tough... and yes turn it off

The best I can offer in your situation is turn off the airbag, and put the 8 and 5 year old in the "buddy" seats. In a rear end collision your 2 yr old will be fine, but I don't know how the sideway seats are in a collision.

I know it's easier said than done, but you my friend really need another ride... trust me, I'm in a similar position -- not enough car for the family. Good luck to you and Happy Holidays.

There is no way to safely put a driver and 3 children in a Ranger.  The seats that flip down from the sides in the back can not be used with a carseat or a booster seat.  Since all 3 children still need to be in seats, there is no way to have them all in a Ranger.

The jump seats are also lap only belts which are not safe for any passengers.

Throughout the United States, there are laws that require car seat use for children. Make sure you know the car seat law of any state you may travel to. Many states require that children stay in appropriate car seats through 8 years or

up to 4 feet, 9 inches tall.

Never place a child in the front seat of a car or truck that has a passenger air bag.

If a child is old enough to use an adult seat-belt and must ride in the front seat, secure the child correctly in the lap and shoulder seat-belt and move the front seat as far back as you can from the dashboard.

Place the car seat in the middle of the back seat of the truck , facing the rear of the seat.

If only two seats, one one both sides of the cab are available then the child would not be safe and you would need to contact your local police department and ask.
