My son is turning 2 and I wanted to do some nice baby pictures this time around.

I always see those little flyers with coupons in the baby magazines. Okay so between, JCPenny, Sears, and The Picture People, where would you get the most for your money?

I really don't want much maybe an 8x10 with a few 5x7s and send the rest via email to friends and family.

  1. Olan Mills is cheap (Belk) and you don't have to pay a whole lot for good, quality pictures. I have the means to pay a lot, but I still go to Olan Mills. Why spend the money? It's too much!

  2. I agree-use a proffesional photographer if you have the finanicial means

the pics always come out more natural that way & most freelance photographers will offer to do it outside of a studio setting like in a park or anyplace really that you would like

personally Im not too crazy about the sears, babies r us ect photos just b/c they look staged & very year booky

  3. JCPenny is a great place to take pictures and they are very affordable (their website always has coupons for free 8x10s, 5x7s, $3.99 photo sheets, etc) and they have various poses and backgrounds. I say here you get the most bang for your buck.

  4. From my experience with TPP and Sears of these places, id go with Sears.

The Picture People were very helpful.  My daughter was being particularly fussy on the day of her photo shoot.  Instead of rushing me thru the session (like kiddie candids)`they let her take a "break" and tried again when she was ready.  however, even with a coupon I foudn them to be expensive.

Sears too was helpful.  They were less busy (I went a week day morning) and took all the time I needed.  However, I found them to be cheaper, and my photos came out beautiful.  Also, I bought a portrait savers card.  i think it was like 30 bucks or so, but for the next calendar year, we can go in and get a free 8 by 10 photo with no sitting fee every week if we wanted to!  Id go with sears.

  5. We always go to the Picture people. They do a really nice job and they do original poses, not the same old poses you always see at the other places. We did one family photo with my husband laying on the floor and me sitting next to him (behind) and our kids all sitting on his back in a row from smallest to biggest. It came out so good. It's definitely worth the money.

  6. if you want the "best" pictures you should go to a professional photographer. if you want the most affordable ones you can go to whatever generic place has a coupon.

i have a friend who is a photographer and she took my maternity pictures which look like professional pictures, i mean professional like they could be in a magazine not like i'm standing in front of a cheezy background. i will be taking all of my baby's pictures with her because it is worth the extra money to have pictures that actually look like they are worth the money paid for them. sure, it's a little more expensive but pictures are something you'll treasure forever and better quality pictures are worth a few more dollars.

  7. Is there a Portrait Innovations nearby?  I spent about $150 on photos.  I ended up with about 6 different poses and 3 sheets for each pose.  I also got 3 8x10's for free along with the portrait CD.

They did a WONDERFUL job and I was very impressed.  You get same day photos too.  My daughter and son did wonderful for the photographer.  They spend as long as it takes, even if it's 2 different days and an hour each time.

  8. We use Sears a lot and also Olan Mills. Neither one is that expensive and the pictures all turn out really good. If you go to the websites, they often have coupons that you can print out and save extra also. I know I just got sent coupons from Sears the other day and they have a package for 9.99 right now.

  9. Picture Me at Wal-Mart has great prices and packages, and the pictures turn out nice.  The wait to get the pictures back is about 2-3 weeks.
