My boyfriend and I are going to Puerto Vallarta in a couple weeks and are very excited.. my sister and her husband have gone and loved it!!  Get an all-inclusive resort so that you don't have to worry about anything except who is going to get your next drink or where to watch the sunset!!  Have a wonderful time!

Try going to Mexico before you generalize about crime. Or at least elaborate. Some places in Mexico can be dangerous, and you should really read up before you choose anywhere. But Cabo, Puerto Vallarta are nice places. It also depends on the season. We had to go to Puerto Vallarta because it was hurricane season, and that kind of eliminated the whole east coast. If you are not going during hurricane season and like the clear blue water, try the east coast. And definitely avoid Puerto Vallarta because the water is not clear or clean.

Cozumel is a beautiful island about 80 kms (50 miles) south of Cancun and right across from Playa del Carmen. It is a very prosperous and friendly town, has lots of beautiful shops and restaurants, splendid white sands beaches and because its an island its very tranquil. It is one of the safest places in the country.

It has some of the best diving (snorkel and scuba) in all of Mexico and I really think that no matter what you are interested in you will find it really is "relaxing and romantic!"

If you are set on Mexico (not my favorite) Cancun and Playa del Carmen are very Americanized-still fun with good great beaches Cabo was just ok my first day there I saw a kid drown on the beach the surf was very rough not the best way to start a vacation with that said there are some great resorts these are all adult only and couples only

This places are very romantic, are plenty of legends, small streets, places for eat and drink coffe, historic buildings, etc.
