  1. First, you wont find any new 2007s left.  They are all gone - 2009s are on the way.

Second - just do this:  Go to the manufacturer's website.  There is always a place to "build and price" your ne car.  You select options, vehicle, etc.  Then when you are done, you will be prompted to enter your contact info.  It may say "check local inventory" or "have someone contact you" - something like that.  Go ahead and fill that information in.

After you submit your info, the request goes to the internet sales departments for every dealer in your geographic area.  Internet reps are generally empowered to just cut to the chase right away, and make the best deal available on the vehicle. This is because they know you are "shopping" 10 dealers from your living room.  Whoever gets you the best price is the winner.

Also, you should apply online for a loan.  Check sources like lendingtree.com, eloan.com capitalone.com or other lender/brokers.  Tell the dealer that you are preapproved and the best rate/term you got.  If the dealer can beat that, let them finance and you all win.  If not, then you know you had the best financing rate in your pocket.

Lastly - the only 'extra' I encourage is gap insurance.  If you are in an accident and hte car is totaled, or if it is stolen, your car insurance may not pay off the loan balance.  You will still have to make up the difference on your own.  Gap insurance picks up where your regular car insurance leaves off, so that the loan is paid.  I had a friend total a Saturn, and had to pay almost $9k after the insurance settlement.  So I highly recommend gap.

Hope that helps - let us know how it goes!
