  1. Where ever you go (1-800-contacts) you will still need to see an optometrist for a fitting.  The websites then contact the optometrists office to see if you have had a fitting and contact lens RX.  W/o these it is illegal to sell contacts online.  If you're looking for a brand it depends on your eye color.  If your eye is dark I'd use FreshLook ColorBlends- not most comfortable (colored contacts NEVER are) but best colors that are very natural, grey green and blue lighten eye w/o changing too much and all look alike basically.  To really change your eye color try True Sapphire or Turquoise.  Avoid honey or pure hazel unless you try them on first, sometimes honey is very orange and pure hazel very yellow.  Cooper has Expressions that change eye color no matter what color, best ones are brown, jade, blue topaz and aqua.  And more comfortable than freshlook.  All these contacts are monthly disposable lenses, so one month per pair or 30 wears.  Each box contains 6 lenses or 3 months, unless you don't wear daily then 30 wears per pair.  Good luck!

  2. They are actually sold by prescription only, even though they're not used to correct vision.  The reason is ill-fitted contact lenses can damage the cornea.  Contacts must be fitted properly to the curvature of your eyes.

I bought some so-called non prescription contacts in LA a few years ago before I knew this.  They were being sold by a vendor in the fashion district.  I bought them to resell them on eBay only to have my listings removed.  I couldn't wear them either since they didn't fit right.  They hurt.
