  1. Midsize city in warm climate or Anchorage AK

Reasons:  Anchorage has good services but I don't know that I would take chance and head there.  Large cties have overwhelming number of homeless ppl so while more services less help for any one person.  Midsize city has some services but more freedom and more chance of being treated as a human being not a number.

Does this person wish to remain homeless or get back into housing?   That would make a huge difference in where they want to be.   If they want to stay homeless a larger city might be better.  If they want out of the homelessness cycle a smaller place with good employment rates would be preferable.  If this is a woman with a family suggest they contact www.homesforthehomeless.org re American Family Inns.

To research any one place go to www.altavista.com and put in homeless and the city name.  You'll see articles about services and equally important newspaper stories that will show you the local attitudes about homelessness.   Obviously you do not want a place that treats all homeless ppl as criminals or that is trying to "clear out the homeless"

BTW did you know the average hiomeless american is a 6 yr old kid.   (source: Institute on children and poverty and national association for education of homeless children and youth)

  2. being homeless i don't think there is such a place.. no place on earth would be great to be homeless in..

  3. there is no such place.

  4. Pueblo, Colorado was a nice place to be homeless in the Summer. At least it was 2 or 3 years ago, I haven't been back there in that long. There's a nice kitchen for breakfast and lunch and you can get vouchers from the Salvation Army for the laundromat and showers at the Y.

I camped out in the woods along the river each night and packed it up in the morning.

You can also use the computers at the library for free.

I only stayed about 3 weeks so I didn't check into VA benefits or anything like that.

  5. I say a warm place like Florida. Hey, it's better than being stuck outside in the winter you know? As far as money and benefits, none. They're all mostly the same as far as I know.
