Where is the best place to buy a used bicycle?

I am looking to get a little more serious about my passion for bicycling. I am wondering if there is a place where I can get a good used bike that would be more efficient than the 20 year old bike that I am currently using. Is there a web shop that sells used bikes?

i agree,  ebay, get it from a reputable seller, more than 98% of positive feedback. get a giant or a fuji, those two brands give you a lot of quality for the price

EBay, Pink Bike etc etc but if you don't know what bike is for you I would speak to your local club or bike shop.  Both could give you good advice about how to get "a little more serious" and put you in touch with someone who is selling the right bike for your needs.

Great thing to do, bikes have improved tremendously and make the whole thing more enjoyable - but you do need to get the right one for your needs or it could be a waste of money.

in terms of consumer protection, your best bet would be an LBS with a used bike inventory..

well i would suggest ebaying it. I got my bike for 1/3 the price on there and it was in "like new" condition when i got it.
