Where is the best place to buy speakers for my room?

I am looking for speakers that have 4 speakers and a sub, or something along those lines so that I can have surround sound. My room is 13 1/2 feet by 14 1/2 feet. I want good sound quality, and I would like to know where the best place to buy speakers like these would be, or a good model that I can look at. I will be connecting my computer, a game system, a dvd player, and I would like it to be able to hook up to an ipod(that is just a suggestion, I don't want to pay extra to get this feature). My budget is around $500, and I have deep pyle carpet so I can string thin wires through my carpet and staple them down, so they can (and probably have to be to reduce the price) be wired.

Now, from your description, you will need a set of speakers *and* a at least decent A/V receiver, as thats what you plug the other gear into. Wired for speakers is easiest, and is cheaper. Use 16 gauge speaker wire, and you'll be fine. Make sure that if you do staple the wires down, that you don't break the exterior of the wires. You should be able to run the front and center speaker wires without having to do that, so you're just in need of hiding the wires to the pair of rear speakers. Good luck and enjoy.

Go to Craigslist and you will find many good quality surround sound speakers for less than $500.
