  1. Depends on your budget - there's this great place down by the waterfront opposite the wind wand, upstairs, kinda flashy - I forget the name though which probably isn't much good! Begins with 'A' though!

One of the best cafe's in town, which i'd definitely recommend is 'Kaos' - only open for day trade though but popular with the locals which has got to be a good sign!

The place in Pukekura Park has a great setting by the lake & a little cheaper than the waterfront - they sometimes have bands in playing in the soundshell & we enjoyed a great meal there.

When in doubt, ask a local!

  2. Valentines is in Palmerston North, not NP.

Try Andres L'escargot or The Orangery at the Quality Hotel Plymouth International.  Price but "best".

Cheap eats - the bakery next to Burger Wisconsin.  Cheap, fresh, straight forward.

Tried Salt in December - would definitely not recommend - ok food, appalling service.  Arborio definitely the better one if you like top end cafe style dining.

The best place used to be Chez Beau - but it was 15 years ahead of its time, so didn't survive.

If you want bulk - go to Marbles (the NP version of Valentines, and probably the reason Valentines has not opened here).  Got to support Peter Tennent!!

  3. 'Salt'  its cool and on the water front

  4. ok i get mixed up with palmerston north and new plymouth but one of them has "Valentines" i love that restraunt. dine free on your birthday!
