  1. if you want to eat good food as roman (I'm from rome) go to Trastevere, is a place in rome close to Isola Tiberina, everyone in rome know about trastevere and there are hips of good restaurantes believe me, then now something you can eat: carbonara (different from here),amatriciana (is pasta), pizza of course (the roman pizza is thin and go for wood fire "Forno a legna") the suppli',olive ascolane, fiori di zucca....

  2. Do not have an answer to this question.  However, Romans tend to dine late, especially Saturday nights when they sit down for "dinner" at their favourite restaurant at about midnight.

  3. Hi, I'm Italian. I lived many years in Rome. Now I live in the US. But when I go back to Rome, and want to get that Roman feeling back again, I go to the area called Trastevere, where there are several small and renowned restaurants. Although it's almost impossible to find a bad restaurant in Rome, in Trastevere I would go to: "Da Meo Patacca" (a famous institution), "Da Giovanni", or "Il Galeone".  These are not luxury spots, or trendy new places. We are talking great typical Roman food with old-time Roman atmosphere and character. And make sure to listen to some of the "Stornelli Romani", the so-called limmericks (hope you can get translations, as they are funny).

If you meant the most luxurious, or trendiest, or place to impress  dine out spot in Rome, please rephrase your question.

  4. Try Alfredo A Via Gabi Via Gabi 38, closed Tuesdays and August, tel 77206792 -- traditional Roman, inexpensive.  Has risen from small beginnings to be very popular.

  5. Hi Lucy, your question's quite specific, so I won't be considering budgets and stuff like that...

The absolute best place where you can dine in Rome is a restaurant called La Pergola, which is on the roof of the Hilton Hotel in Montemario... Its chef is Heinz Beck, one of the top chefs in the world... You get the elegant but romantic and plush setting, the magnificent view over Rome and superdelicious food that is also beautiful to look at... Bill to foot... Worth considering for a special night out... Have fun, Micaela
