  1. Quattro Lioni-in the piazza della passera for authentic, good Florentine food

  2. Try a lampredotto sandwich from one of the street vendors.

  3. There are a multitude of good places in  Florence.  Just south of the church of San Lorenzo there are a couple of nice ones with both indoor and al fresco dining, and one across the street.  Also the Piazza della Signoria has several good ones.  Around behind the Palazzo Vecchio is a small ristorante that is frequented by the Italian guides.  Walk from the Piazza della Republica to the Ponte Vecchio and you will see several, both on the street and on the side streets.  They are all good.  In fact, I don't know of any I could call bad.  I especially like one on the second floor of a round building just southeast of Santa Maria Novella.  Ask any local.  They are always very helpful.

  4. One of my favorites from our last trip is a restaurant called Baldevino, it is located near Santa Croce church.  Really wonderful traditional yet inspired food.  Some members of our group ate at a trattatoria called Sostano (sp?) which was a bit pricey but one member of our group offered his daughter in marriage to the owner because he enjoyed it so much!

  5. Acqua al 2 is my favorite resturant in florence..... and probably the best food that ive had in my life. it is near the bargello museum off of "via della ___vecchia" i believe? however, it is hard to get a reservation, they only do seatings at 7:30 and 9:30 and sometimes later so you need to call ahead of time to make a reservation. the pricing can range anywhere from as cheap as you want to spend or as expensive.. the wine is also great!

the pasta sampler, the blueberry steak, balsalmic steak or the chicken porto, and the desserts and salads are all amazing.

make sure to go there hungry!! you wont be disappointed.. :)

  6. All previous posts gave good suggestions as Florence does offer several places where you can have a nice meal. Another personal suggestion can also be "Osteria Antica Mescita San Niccolò", located in one of the most typical districts of Florence: San Niccolò.  (Via San Niccolò, 60)

  7. I always liked the little places off the road near the Ponte Vecchio or on the east side near Santa Croce.  There's a nice restaurant that's 3 blocks east of the main strip  and 1 block before the Ponte Vecchio from the northside of Florence.
