Where is the best place to eat seafood in London?

I want a decent restaurant - middle of the range in terms of prices, but it has to be somewhere that serves great quality, fresh seafood - lobster, shrimp, etc. Anywhere in greater London is fine, but central is better.

  1. It must be Royal China at Baker Street. I have been there before. The range of seafood is very good. Best of all is that it is FRESH. There are fish tank in front of you where you chose your fish-- Hong Kong seafood style!

    Head Chief is quite famous.

  2. Go to any Chinese restaurant in China Town, they do nice seafood dish especially lobster...etc

  3. Chamberlains is pretty good.

    Here's the address:

    23-25 Leadenhall Market

    City

    London EC3V 1LR

    tel: 020 7648 8690

  4. I would really recommend Livebait.  Had a really fabulous meal there and I don't think it's really expensive.  There's one in Waterloo and one in Covent Garden.  I think they focus more on fish rather than seafood but they do have some available.

  5. Theres a fish restaurant called 'fish' (suprisingly) in borough market by London Bridge Station. Well it was there about a year ago when I wen there. Wasn't too expensive and food was good

  6. harriods

  7. There's this sushi bar I know......

but be careful some of the sea creatures are radioactive!

  8. The Thames.

  9. Im not sure there are any great seafood places in London that serves a la carte for less than 30 quid a head! There is a restaurant in Kennington called the Lobster Pot that my friend raves about- a bit further out but meant to be very good! http://www.lobsterpotrestaurant.co.uk/

  10. have a look around there must be lots of them.

  11. The price limit you gave is at odds with "the best", but I would say that  the following are good ideas.  The following are all those in the Good Food Guide: (the Good Food Guide marks are shown)

    Bentleys in Swallow Street       5/10

    Fishworks (Marylebone and Chiswick)     2/10

    Fish Hook in Chiswick   2/10

    Royal China in Queensway    3/10

    Deep in Fulham  4/10

    Fish Shop EC1   2/10

    J. Sheekey    4/10

    Lou Pescadou  SW3   3/10

    101  Knightsbridge   4/10

    Two Brothers  Finchley  1/10

I would add Toffs in Muswell Hill, an excellent chippie. The very finest seafood may be found at Japanese restaurants, but this will be a problem at the price limit you indicated e.g. Zuma is terrific.

If you had to pick one - try Bentleys.  Reviews and contact details are at my web site below.
