  1. I usually find a good deal by comparing prices for cruises here:  iBtraveling.com

As for cruises, my suggestion would be to take one leaving San Juan since there aren't as many days at sea and you go to better islands.

Buy your own snorkel gear here so you won't have to spend about $30 for a ship excursion once you get to an island.  Just get off the ship, head to a taxi and ask him where is the best place to snorkel, or a beach that has a bar, or ... whatever your interests happen to be and he'll know the best spot.  He'll pick you up when you ask too, just bring a few extra bucks for a tip.

Depending upon your age, Carnival is great for twenty somethings and 30s too, or any age actually, although most cruise lines are about the same.  You hear raves about RC being great, but my friend just came back and she said she stayed awake one night listening to her husband snore on one side of her and his friend, in the next room, snoring on the other side of her.  So...bring some ear plugs?  LOL  I dunno, I never had that problem with any cabin I've had, from the bottom of the ship to the top w/a balcony.

If you've got days at sea...and you've got the money, then a balcony is well worth the price since you'll feel that you "own" the ship with so much privacy.  It's wonderful to say the least, otherwise, book a cabin with a window.  (I had a hard time in a windowless cabin, but that's me.).

Two weeks before you set sail, call the cruise line and see if there are any free upgrades.  Sometimes this might work, depending upon how filled it is.

Well, wish you luck, but any of the islands you'll enjoy, the rich ones and the poor ones.  They're all so beautiful!

    Have fun!

  2. The cheapest cruises are usually carnival (and well worth it).  Carnival has a wonderful program where you can find that absolute cheapest price anywhere on their website... no one will be able to get you a better deal.   The earlier you book your cruise the better the price so make sure to book as soon as possible!

  4. the best place to start is a good travel agent tell them when where and your budget and they will find you a decent priced cruise and the rest you can do on line compare cruise lines and itinerary good luck hope this is a bit of help .

  5. This topic could go on forever if everyone list every travel site on the planet, so I'll just list the best one..

  6. Go to a good travel agent; preferrably one that speciallizes in cruises.  Prices are the same if you book online, call cruise company direct or thru a travel agent.  It is only lower if you go with a group which a travel agent can put you on if they have one going at the time you one.

Have taken 15-20 cruises pluse my husband is a ship's captain in the merchant marines.  Western Caribbean is ports in the Gulf of Mexico and Eastern Caribbean is ports south of Florida.  Southern Caribbean is a little more expensive as you have to fly further.

One piece of advice, if you haven't cruised before..... do not take a cruise with more than 3-4 ports in one week as you wont remember whats what and you won;t have enough time to enjoy the ship.
