Cable/DSL-modem: your ISP (then they'll usually diagnose, fix, or replace it for you when something happens)

Some ISPs (like Verizon FiOS) require you to use their modem/router to make it work. Otherwise if you can get one (I think Cox allows this) you'll need to make sure what you get is compatible and have it registered on the ISP's network.

Anywhere but Best Buy. Make sure your cable provider supports it. I got min efriom my cable provider and it was same price at Wal-mart.
