Question:

Where is the best place to get an inexpensive laminate vanity top (standard 49"x22")?

I've been looking on-line and have gone to home improvement stores but everything is in the $300+ range. I just want a simple, laminate top like most kitchen counters. I already have a nice drop-in sink, so I do not want a pre-cut or pre-mounted sink with the deal.

When I go to the kitchen section, they have pre-cut 48" tops but they're too long (25"). They tell me if I was to special order a laminate countertop for my vanity, its going to be $400.

Anyone know if they have pre-made laminate tops anywhere or a good place on-line to order? I am fixing up a condo for re-sale and just want a basic top, the old one was rotten and I had to throw it out or I would've just refinished it.

Any help would be great!!

  1. The homecenters as previously suggested carry "Kitchen" tops which are 25".   They do not carry vanity tops.  But, you can take the 25" top, and cut the rolled edge back splash off at 22" and you will have your top.  I did the identical thing to build a bar and it worked fine.  In fact, it was an 8' top marked down due to damage on one end, and it cost less than the 4' tops.  I cut the bad end off, and the results were good.

Find someone with skill and a table saw.   You will, however, need to make a backsplash.  I will leave that up to your imagination...

  2. I dont know what state you live in but if you live in the midwest you can get basic vanity tops for $25 at MENARDS. so hopefully you have one close...any questions just ask...hope this helps

  3. the Home Depot laminate tops are about 12 dollars a foot...so your top would be about 60 bucks....no need to special order the top...they carry different sizes from 12 feet down to about 3 feet....the edges come separate..your will have to pick up 2 of them that match the color u choose.....48 inch is a pretty standard size.......forget what section of the store they carry them in......but they carry the top with a rolled back and rounded front....tell the store attendant u want to see the ones they carry in stock

  4. Go to Lowes to purchase your preformed counter-top. It will not be cut to the size you need. Ask who in town can cut the counter-top and they can direct you to a company that does that work.
