Where is the best place to go surfing if...:?

i live in yorkshire, england and want to know if there is somewhere where i can learn to surf nearby, and also i want to go on holiday and go surfing - somewhere in europe so it is not too expensive to travel there (would love to go to hawaii or australia, but as i am a student this is not an option!), but also somewhere very hot so i can get a tan. Where is the best place to go? I have never surfed before, so i am a complete beginner!! Thanks

My friends used to mention Wales so I guess these might be the places.

There are some great breaks all throughout Cornwall. Not to far and tons of good people and clean water. Not to sure about the tan but check out the waves. good luck
