  1. about 30 min from a city, this way you not too far from anything like employment and the schools are good, its not too hot, n housing prices aren't too bad.

  2. Knowital summed it up.  I live in Endeavour Hills, in the south east.  Pretty much the same story here as the north, and it is one of the biggest growth corridors in the country (if you consider that an advantage).

Good services, schools and so on.  Job situation is okay too.

House prices out here are also pretty good too.

Like most of Melbourne though, the public transport is not great.

  3. Most good schools in Melbourne are the private schools in the eastern suburbs. Eastern suburbs are safer compare to northern and western suburbs due to richer citizens. Most big shopping malls are in the eastern suburbs as well. Due to the current economy in Australia, house prices in the eastern suburb have decreased slightly, but history have proven that the houses in eastern suburb fetch better in the long term. The tram system runs more to the eastern suburb, too.

As for the weather, Melbourne have the worst weather compare to the other major cities. It really can have 4 seasons in a day!

Plenty of opportunities in career, here in Melbourne. And since the living costs in Melbourne is much lower than Sydney, you can really save some money for rainy days.

  4. Redfern

  5. PERTH! :D

  6. Hobart - all the advantages of a capital city without the drawbacks

Warm summers but not baking hot at night and cool/cold winters

Insurance permiums are much much lower than on the mainland showing property cime is equally lower and kids are still free to walk to and from school, you just don't hear about murder, kidnap, home invasiosn etc here and in a small city if it happened you would hear about it

    Excellent state and private schools

Very stong economy, skilled trades and medical staff are in especially strong demand

You can live in the centre of town there are still houses (small) in the 300,000s that are 20 minute walk to the CBD or in some of the semi-rural suburbs (still less than a 30 min drive) I think the median house proces is 325k - houses tend to be 3-4 bedroom and with a larger block of land

  7. Regional NSW

    Wagga wagga eg

  8. Pretty much all of Australia is safe, good schools and easy to get a job, so it comes down to the climate and housing prices. Hobart has the coolest weather of the capital cities, very pleasant in summer, the winter can be pretty cold though. Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth all get fairly hot in summer, although Sydney is more humid. House prices are much more affordable in Hobart or Adelaide. Overall I would suggest Melbourne or Adelaide, Adelaide being considerably cheaper.

  9. Hi, I would live in the suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. The northern suburbs are good, the house prices are reasonable and the houses are lovely.(Essendon, Tullamarine and surrounding suburbs).

Victoria has the best school system in Australia and the northern suburbs has plenty of private schools and public schools to choose from. The public transport system is pretty good too, with one ticket which allows you access to trams, buses and trains. The employment market is OK, currently booming in trades, nursing, professional (accountant, law, travel consultant etc).

Also a very safe state, it has a great cafe culture and night life yet it has a good police presence so it is always safe.

Victoria has a cooler climate, however not so cool that it snows in the city or anything.
