Where is the best place to live in Canada with 5 children?

My Husband and I have four children, plus I am currently pregnant. We live in Quebec , but we would like to relocate to a city that has more employment and opportunity for growth. Also somewhere that is safe for the children. A multicultural community would be best. Any suggestions? They will all be appreciated. Thanks :)

Not Toronto, that's for sure.  At least for the short term, the job prospects there are if anything worse than Quebec's.

If employment is the main criteria, then the West is the way to go.  BC or Alberta, in either place virutally anyone willing to work is employed.  I think you'll find BC much more multicultural than Alberta.  More accepting of minorities in general, particularly the urban areas where the jobs are).

Vancouver also has a more diverse economy, less reliant on one horse (oil)

But of course, both BC and Alberta are expensive to live, both will cost you substantially more to get into the housing market particularly, Vancouver more so than say Calgary.

I'd recommend Vancouver, it's a great place to live, you certainly can't beat the weather in winter.  But there are certainly tradeoffs.

Incidentally, (taking a wild stab that you might be francophone)BC has a vibrant francophone school system in most communities.  If they qualify, your kids will get private school education levels in a fully public system.

I would definitely suggest Winnipeg, Mb, there are lots of employment opportunities especially if you are bilingual. Winnipeg also has a francophone community based in St. Boniface and if you contact them they will most likely help you relocate to our city.

The Moncton area of New Brunswick has been growing steadily with no indication of slowing. Real estate in the area is reasonable, you can find a 5 bedroom home with some land for under 200,000. easily. Fairly low violent crime rates, some very good schools, French is welcomed. Can't do too much better for the price and some of the best beaches in Canada short drives away.

It partly depends on your skills.  If you want great quality family life consider anywhere in Atlantic Canada, but the job opportunities will not be the same as out west.  Atlantic Canada is not as multiculturally diverse as many other parts of Canada, but it is very welcoming.  If you or your husband have skills that are in demand in the offshore oil industry for example, you might find what you are looking for.  Housing will be much less than in most of the rest of Canada, so you do not need to make as much money.  If you want French schooling for your children, each province has a Francophone school system.  Best of luck with it, whatever you decide.

definetly toronto, etoboicoke is an amazing area! not downtown,   cuz that's way too busy for 4 children and a baby, but around toronto, maybe even oakville, i hear thats a good place, big houses and its not that expensive!
