I am going to be studying at the University of Guadalajara (in the CUCSH department) from August this year. Does anyone know where my university department is and consequently where is the best place to live, to be relatively close to the uni and clubs/bars? Where are the safe areas and dangerous areas around Guadalajara? Is the Histroric centre a good place to live in? Thanks, answers are much appreciated!

  1. I would jump the border into the U.S. for sure.

  2. Good for you! To be honest I'm rather jealous. I have been to Guadalajara twice and loved it so much I am hoping to return there yet again once I get the opportunity. I have always stayed with a homestay in Zapopan, and thus I can second what the above poster said about it being nice, clean, and very safe.

  3. If you are going to study at UdeG, the places surrounding the campus is a nice pretty safe place to live, the neiborhoods are mostly of a middle class citizens and the campus is not far away from the night life of Guadalajara,

Most of the west of Guadalajara and Zapopan is safe. Try something in providencia or something in  Ave .Patria near Ave Mexico or close to the Malls, Guadalajara is not vry expensive compare to other Mexican big cities, you can get a nice aparment for 4500 pesos a month with the exeption of Puerta de Hierro that it is very close by campus but very expensive.

DOWNTOWN IS A BAAAD IDEA  and no so close to the Ude G.
