Where is the best place to live in North Carolina or the southeast (close to GA) that gets snow every winter?

I currently live in central Georgia, and I am looking to move. I would like to live somewhere that gets snow every winter. By the way I am not talking about Buffalo New York with 10 feet of the fluffy white stuff, but some that sticks... I am looking somewhere close to GA- North Carolina maybe? I have to remain pretty much in the few states close to here due to the fact that I have children and I am divorced, so anywhere close to but not GA is helpful. Thanks

  1. Basically, the closer you are to the Smoky Mountains, the more snow you are going to see.  I think Asheville, NC would be a nice place to live.  Close to the mountains and winter weather but without the feeling that you are in the backwoods middle of nowhere.

  2. Hey, i live in Thomasville North Carolina, and we get a little bit of snow every year, but it's not a lot. If you want more snow, you'd probably want to live in the mountains, like Boone or the Appalachian area.

  3. Western N.C. gets snow every year.  I live in Atlanta and I go skiing a few times a year in N.C.  Places like Boone, Blowing Rock, and even Asheville all see snow.  Boone is up in the north western part of the state and is about 4 hours from Atlanta.  The only problem with those areas are that they are very rural and it may be hard to meet people.  Boone would be a nice place because App. State is there.  THere are also 2 resorts in the town.  There is also Maggie Valley which is about 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta.  Once agian it is a small town and not a lot of opertunity to meet people.  I am not sure if you are looking to meet someone to date or get married to agian, but it would be tough to find people in that area.  Beautiful country though.  Eastern TN outside of Knoxville gets snow every year also.
