  1. Go to a horse show in your area.

This is the time of year where many summer circuits are coming to a close, meaning championships, which are great venues to buy horses. There are usually bulliten boards full of for sale ads. Plus, you get a chance to see how that horse performs under pressure, which is great if you're planning on showing.

Also, they often announce over the loudspeaker if the horse is for sale when they do their rounds.

  2. I am actually selling a mare right now. She is beautiful!

Here are some great websites that have a lot of horses for sale on them:

    freehorseads.com

    agdirect.com

    horsetopia.com

    equine.com(my personal favorite)

These are the most popular horse sites... You could also try googling "Horses for Sale" and a ton of sites will pop up.

  3. TONS of websites

    equinehits.com

    equustrack.com

    horsewanted.com

    tacktrader.com

    freehorseads.com

    dreamhorse.com

    horsetrader.com

    equine.com

    and on and on!!!!

Just type into google "horse for sale".

I would recommend you local auction....lots of horses looking for forever homes and second chances.

  4. Your options are endless, there so many people that are trying to sell their horses now due to the economy.  It is a buyers market for sure.  You could start at your local tack and feed store, they usually have a message board with for sale items and horses on it.  Your vet and farrier will know who is selling or buying so you could give them the heads up to let you know if they see a horse you may be interested in.  Google "horses for sale" and you will spend a month looking at horses for sale on those, these websites that are set up for buying and selling horses are very well organized, asking for what area you are interested in, what price range and what breed and age, very good way to find what you are looking for if you are really fussy.  I found my last two horses via the internet and have been very satisfied with both purchases

  5. The best thing to do is start locally: Check your local paper classified or a local Swap sheet. You can also find local auctions, though becareful, if you dont have alot of horse-buying exerience, you can get ripped off. If you still can't find a horse you like, try online searches, like horsetopia.com, equine.com, craigslist, etc. You can also find breeders online or in the phonebook if you are looking for a specific breed. And here's a good tip: if you find one you like, make sure you get a Vet Check, to make sure the horse is safe, sound, and healthy!

  6. www.petfinder.com lists horses that are in need of homes.  Type in your ZIP code to search your local area.

  7. www.equine.com. You can put in EXACTLY what you want and where you live.

  8. equine.com

    equinehits.com

If your experienced and have a trainer to work with than you could consider getting an ex racehorse off the CANTER website.

Good Luck with finding one!!! :)

  9. Go to all the barns in your area and ask around.

Some websites that are good are equinehits.com and horsetopia.com
