  1. Anywhere and everywhere in England is beautiful. The North and the South the countryside is, of course, the best part of it and there are many small villages and hamlets that are crime free.  The choice is so wide and varied it is unfair to comment on particular area.  View before you decide is my advice.

  2. North London or Essex....

  3. Lancashire!!! crime is a little on the higher than other places i would think but a nice mix of cultures

  4. That sounds like part of why I moved to Cornwall...

A Cornish household is likely to be burgled once every 229 years.

A vehicle in Cornwall is likely to be broken into once every 137 years.

(from "The Little Book of Cornwall" data from 2006)

.. and as Seb has said, that's going to be even better in the countryside, as the bigger towns tend to be at least a smidgen worse..

  5. I have to agree with pedestal. I too live in Cornwall, and more often than not, I forget to lock my door, and my car, as crime is virtually unknown. The peace and quiet is priceless, and the beauty is outstanding. I am extremely lucky to have found my "little piece of heaven on earth" I could NEVER go back to City living.

  6. Lancashire, Cumbria or Yorkshire ... very nice areas, with nice people and lower crime rates than most of the country (unless you go near the big cities in each of these counties)
