  1. on the roof of the car, either towards the front center or back center.

if it keeps doing it and your not in a heavily wooded area or big city area (lots of tall skyscrapers) then i would check the connection or try getting another GPS antenna. if all else fails, take the actual GPS unit back to where you got it from and claim it defective due to a faulty connection the the back of the head unit. sometimes this happens.

  2. Most rental car companies that offer GPS rental such as from company like Hertz put their aftermarket GPS antenna on the trunk of their vehicle, make sure you are putting it on metal since most GPS antenna are externally grounded.

Check your GPS antenna wire for an break or open connections.

If you still lose GPS signal from time to time, try to keep a record of when you are losing the GPS signal.

You will lose it in Tunnels, around high rise buildings and in heavily wooded  areas and this could be simply system limitations and nothing is wrong with your GPS unit.

As long as your GPS antenna is expose to the sky with no obstruction and mounted a a steel surface, it should be fine, don't try to mount it inside the dash since some vehicles have metal reinforcements inside the dash area and could reduce GPS signal.

    Good Luck

  3. torwards the back on the roof
