I'm going on a flight to England on a Boeing 777. It's an overnight flight and I'd like to find a quieter place to sit/ sleep. So where would be the best place on the plane to get a seat?

Also, I guess I should ask, which areas should I avoid? Thanks for any ideas on this!

  1. In the cockpit, left seat...:)

  2. http://www.seatguru.com/

it tells you all of the good seats and bad seats of that aircraft with the airline.

  3. avoid? avoid Aisle seat choose always a window seat unless you don't enjoy looking at the engines, flaps and its wings. lot of activity going on during a flight. as an aircraft spotter i always choose window seat to have a confortable flight  and instead of opening the entertainment system, choose the one which has a view of the map and its route to where your destination is like SIA haha

  4. As far away from the engines, and as close to first class, as you can get.

Avoid seats near to the engines, and the seats nearest to the toilets. Also avoid seats near to crew stations and the galley. There will be more people traffic in these areas.

  5. About 5 rows in front or behind of the toilets in an aisle seat, that way, you can get up after the food and drink cart go by and use the head.

BTW, a 777 has a release for the chair arm on the underside, close to the back. It slides forward to raise the arm. That way, you can slide out of the seat with stuff on your tray.

  6. Most large jets are surprisingly quiet, however you are going to want to be forward of the engines, or right by the wings. If possible see if you can get an exit row seat, lots of extra leg room to stretch out.

Also, try to stay away from galleys...clanging, busy, not fun! Neither is being near the toilets, people going back and forth around there could be distracting you from rest

  7. As far as noise, sit close to the front as possible. In reality it will be relatively quiet no matter where you sit and you can have a good sound sleep as long as it is a smooth ride.

I always like to sit on or behind the wings where I can see all the control surfaces.
