Question:

Where is the best place to stay in Auckland for a migrant?

I was thinking Manukau City because it seems more multi-cultural but I noticed that the North Shore is getting more and more popular these days.

Is getting a rental hard for these places? And how much is the average rental these days? THANKS!

  1. HI,

Auckland in its self is very multiracial...and many of the suburbs are predominently settled by groups of differnet migrants, for instance in Otara (small suburb of Auckland) it has been mainly settled by polynesian migrants...and other suburbs have a strong korean, Indian and asian presence so it would depend on which culture you affiliate with. Manukau is however is a good place to start until you get settled.

Getting a rental place is not hard, and rent differs between areas for example...

    *Nothern Auckland 2BDRM = $296 - 3BDRM = $368

    *Western Auckland 2BRM = $259 - 3BDRM = $312

    *Central Auckland 2BRM = $333 - 3BDRM = $415

    Southern Auckland 2BRM = $248 - 3BDRM = $301

  2. Hi,

For a short term stay, somewhere you can eat and sleep while you investigate other accommodation, you'll find the YWCA Hostel is right in the centre of town and will let you stay on a temporary basis, say perhaps up to 3 months.

Sorry, I don't know the charges, but you'll find there phone number in the Auckland phone directory.
