Where is the best place to stay in Mexico?

We are looking for a beautiful and quiet, relaxed place...all inclusive. We want to enjoy the ocean and check out ruins and local markets & shops. We would like to keep it at about $1,000 a person, for the plane tickets and hotel. Both of us have never been to Mexico, and we have no idea when a good month to go is, (also when the cheapest time of the year to go is). I know we dont want to go to Canun or Cozumel because those tend to be spring-break type party places. Any advice is appreciated!! Thanks :)

  1. Definately the Mayan Riviera.  We stayed at Catalonia Royal Tulum on Xpu-ha beach .  Most beautiful beach and water I have seen.  Very quiet location.  A couple of very small intimate resorts on the beach .  Go to tripadvisor for info.  It is also close to the ruins in Tulum.

  2. I returned two days ago from Mexico and I'll advice you to choose Acapulco. You can find beautiful hotels, the ocean, great breakfast (and not only). I didn't understand if the 1,000 USD are for a round way, from where and how many days do you want to stay. As for the ruins, you'll not find in Acapulco.

  3. I would stay away from Acapulco due to the high crime rate.  Your best bet is Puerto Vallarta but I would recommend you don't do an all inclusive.  Go to the El Centrol or Zona Romantica areas of PV and stay there.  You will experience the real Mexico instead of the sterilized all inclusive hotels.  Email me and I will give you suggested places to stay at about $40 per night.

  4. I like Mexico City and there should be tons of places to live in, that are calm and quiet.
