There are many hotels/resorts who are good in Punta Cana, but you must take two things in mind :

In October Punta Cana is more under the influence of rain and winds than Puerto Plata

Punta Cana is a bit isolated 9only hotels) there is not much to do outside the resorts.

If you really want to go there try the Riu's or Melia's they are good.

hi im dominican,....lol ummmmm i live here in USA but i go there every year so if is hotel a hotel called (bachata) in playa dorada is the best hotel ever............if you want more info please contact me via aim is purplecitybg22
