well it depends on skill level but for small-mid sized surf trestles, mid-big surf north shore Oahu, for insane surf half moon bay, CA aka mavericks,

for me, its not an exotic place. its a secret spot in NC--with solid ground swell. there are better waves out there---but not many with a sandy bottom....
