Next May my beau is coming back from Iraq and he wants to go somewhere on his two week leave. He mentioned a cruise, but neither one of us has ever been on one. Where are the best places to go? Which is the cheapest way to go? What do we need to expect? Where are the best places to look online? I would really appreciate the help!!!!

  1. May is the perfect time for a four day cruise plus a seven day cruise.  Norwegian Cruise Lines goes up to Alaska in May from Mexico and they have a four day cruise from Los Angeles to Seattle, then a seven day cruise round trip to/from Seattle.  So, you could book a four day cruise and a seven day cruise and just stay on the ship to make it an eleven day cruise.  And, Norwegian is the best cruise line out there, in my opinion.

  2. Mediterranean cruise is definitely my favourite. If you would like to do a more thorough research about mediterranean cruise lines, mediterranean cruise ships, and more tips about cruise travelling, I suggest here is the link to my favorite blog:

  3. Can you drive to a port from your home?  That is a good way to save money.

I always get the best deals at cruise brothers.com  I have used them four times.  I just went on Carnival Conquest last month for 548.00 per person and that was for an oceanview room.

I do recommend Royal Caribbean over Carnival though.  Everything is just a little nicer and better.

I think the best itinerary for first timers would be a Western Caribbean, which is usually something like Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Cozumel.  They usually have these cruises out of Galveston, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and New Orleans.  If you can drive to one of these ports you could really save some money...

Another idea- look up vacations on Funjet.com.  You can play around with this website and find some really good deals to an all inclusive resort.  YOU WILL save money in the long run if you do this.  Cruises are really cheap to go on, but once you get on the alcohol and extras will break the bank if you are on a tight budget.  For example, our bill was 1200.00 last time at the end of a one week cruise, and we are not heavy drinkers.  I can't imagine what some of the partiers bills are like at the end!

Any way, I hope this helps!

  4. Cheapest line is probably Carnival, and inside cabin.  Book with the line directly.  Word of warning though....the inside cabins are truly claustrophobic!

  5. i went on a carnival. one to the bahamas. the other to mexico. depends where you're located. you can even go up north to look at glaciers. and just so you know, no one is in shape.

  6. First time cruisers (out of us) I would rekomend the carrebian. Take a 7 night cruise either from florida or from the departure city nearest you like New York. As for cruiseline browse the web and decide on your own! Johan

  7. I've taken the a Disney cruise to the Bahama's it was great, not just for kids.  Check out disneycruiseline.com

  8. An Alaskan Cruise is absolutely gorgeous.  May is an excellent time to go. The weather is fair.  We went in May several years ago.  The carribean (Cayman Islands) is also great, but very different from Alaska.  Alot of it depends on what you like and if you want warm weather or cooler weather.  Your boyfriend might think cooler weather would be nice.  Carnival has a fun cruise line!

    Have a great time.

  9. The best place to take a cruise and what company is up to the individual.  My particular fav is Royal Caribbean out of Port Liberty NJ to Bermuda, but everyone has their own preferences.

Do some research on the web.  First, go to the cruise line's web site to get some idea of what they offer.  Look at the ships and activities they offer.  A word of warning, they will all look good.

Then look for cruise reviews.  Do a search on "Cruise reviews" and you will find many (see sources).  Look for destination reviews also in addition to ship reviews.

Where you leave from is also important.  I like to leave out of NJ or NYC because I live in NJ.  But if you are near a coast, you probably can find a port near by.  This avoids the air flight to the port city.  But many great cruises can be found with airfare included.

But most of all - Enjoy it.  A cruise can be a wonderful thing if you let it.  Too many people get hung up on this or that is not right without looking at the full experience.

Do your research and HAPPY CRUISING.

  10. email rosefalcontravel@netscape.net.....she is a cruise expert and can usually find exactly what you want for the price you want to pay....I use her and have never had a bad experience...in the subject box type "travel with keewee"...she wont open mail if she dont know you....keewee is her pet......good luck.....
