Where is the best place to travel and possible live in Brazil?

I think this is the most diverse country in the world. I would love to live there.

I speak Spanish and am learning Portuguese. I probably won't have trouble speaking.

I always hear about the crime scene of Rio de Janeiro, but it looks so beautiful from the pictures I see.

Are there any cities or places (in Latin America) that are very similar to the landscape of this place? I like nice beaches with mountain views. Has anyone traveled or lived there?

I understand exactly what you mean. Rio de Janeiro is really beautiful, but I give you the advice not to start a new life there. Unfortunately It is truly very violent! It is a great place for vacation. But living there is something else.

A better option is probably is Florianopolis, this city is very similar to Rio de Janeiro but is much safer. It is actually an island and for that reason is surrounded by beaches. Florianopolis also has a great atmosphere.

Another possibility I would say is Salvador.
